The speaker during the surgery workshop is Dr. Silvia Jauernig. She has working experience as a specialist since more than 10 years and is busy with continuing education as speaker in international workshops and lectures. After graduating from Veterinary Medicine at Justus- Liebig-University of Giessen in 1994, she worked 2 years in a mixed veterinary practice. After finishing the Residency for Small Animal Surgery at the University of Bern she graduated as Diplomate of the European College for Veterinary Surgeons in 2000. After this time she was first employed in a referral clinic in the Netherlands and turned to self-employed member of the clinic for 5 years. In November 2011 she went to Finland and is current employed in the Small Animal Clinic Eläinsairaala Aisti in Vantaa (Helsinki). To consider the basic principles of (atraumatic) surgery including preparation of patient and surgeon is important to keep a good patient outcome. A good knowledge of basic surgical principles and surgical techniques will help to decrease the risks for the patient and improve the recovery. During the seminar we will discuss and train the basic principles of surgery as well as techniques for operations of urogenital and intestinal tract.
